Extreme Voting

 

Our political system is corrupted and does not serve us. Nearly all of our voting choices look about as different from each other as Teletubbies and the way our votes in UK *elections 'count' is a farce...
(*EU elections like today though use a more sensible system so that EACH individual vote actually DOES make a difference)...

BUT the problem is that voting, puts people in office and gives them powers that affect ALL our lives. Sadly, those that DO vote, are not representative of the very many of us that don't want to even engage with a system as clearly wrong as this. So TODAY please, just give it a go and see what effect WE might have - nip down to your local Polling Station and choose candidates from a party without a history of harm or list of policies encouraging us to hate our fellow humans.

The system has to be re-ordered and it seems we need as many good people on the inside of it as possible - to help make that change happen from both withIN and without. I have read the policies of the Green Party of England and Wales and talked at length with Natalie Bennett - Green Party Leader and I am certain that this is not only the best choice - but the ONLY choice for me if I want to ensure fracking is opposed and economic and social justice pursued x

OPEN LETTER: To Renewable Industry

To the innovators, inventors, creators and makers of renewables and 'off-grid' energy - a proposition:

I expect you have read/heard about Balcombe and Barton Moss Community Protection Camps where 'Protectors' (rather than protestors) gather, camp and daily slow progress at unconventional energy sites.

From a tiny network of just a few groups opposing this industry in the UK some 2+ years ago - we are now 140+ groups arranged primarily by geography although some by shared role/interest ie: Mothers Against Fracking, Knitting Nanas, Creatives Against Fracking etc. Each of these groups is aware and likely planning their camps (we watch the planning registers with the aid of Friends of the Earth and local groups) and as you will have noted from the media - we are portrayed as tree-hugging, jobless, lazy, communist hippies.

YOU could change this - and promote renewables at the same time!

Our camps are created from nothing and powered by generators if we have them. Camp fires abound along with compost toilets etc. What if though, the renewable energy sector stepped in and showcased just what it can do? I have no idea how this would work or if it is possible - but I think it is time to start showing that life without fossils is not stone-age and we can do this by example if you're willing and able...

Media love to be on-site with their cameras - aiming to catch us at our domestic-terrorist, grubby worst... so the publicity will be ready-made. Renewable companies can get together with the camps - keep a presence on site and show-off the technology. Perhaps it will be that local companies,  get together with local groups etc. A great chance to start linking: protection and innovation... the present threats and the inspirational future as concepts people can begin to trust.

Vile system in need of infusion before cure:

I so despise the corrupt system of government and always believed
that voting only makes them think I support it... and I really really
don't. BUT we are living in very dangerous times for the health and
well-being of our families/communities and it seems that in order to
STOP the harm of dangerous industries like shale gas (fracking); the
injustice of austerity; the selling off of our NHS, schools etc and the
continued theft of our rights to object when they do ...we NEED to vote
first and get the 'system' changed once we have infused some wiser more
just people into it.



I met Natalie Bennett - Green Party Leader
in Balcombe and since then have encountered her in at least four other
places... she is plain talking, determined and very unlike any
politician I have seen and this gives me huge hope. I watched as Caroline Lucas
sat with her son and refused to move until arrested at Balcombe... she
was putting the situation ahead of the risks to her liberty. For these
reasons I WILL be voting for the Green Party wherever and whenever it is
an option.



My first real act of activism was to sit outside the
London Stock Exchange on 15th October 2011 - because I'd had enough of
the awful system that bailed out banks yet cut back on all the important
funding like education, health, disability payments etc. I did not want
to engage with the system - I wanted to stop it, do a make-over and
start with something better... and was empowered by the many that were
there too seeking the same at Occupy the London Stock Exchange.



I tried to once engage with politics a few years ago when Nick Clegg made promises that sounded a bit believable but that was clearly an error. Voting does not look like the solution - but it does offer an
opportunity and is important now because those that DO vote currently...
are choosing the same old corrupted parties that offer the same old
lies called promises. I don't know for certain that the Green Party of England and Wales is going to get us out of this mess but I do know that it is the BETTER choice.
